The Art of Brewing Chai-Tea
Mastering the Ritual Behind Every Cup of Chai
For us, tea is more than a beverage; it’s a ritual, a pause, a moment of mindful alchemy. At The Chai Thesis, every blend is crafted with this intent: the layers of spices are carefully blended with aromatics, and premium whole-leaf teas chosen to tell a story. But even the finest chai needs the right brewing technique to shine truly.
Brewing tea is an art form. When mastered, it transforms simple ingredients into a cup full of warmth, clarity, and character.
Here’s how to elevate your chai experience and get the most out of our blends, every single time.
Why Brewing Method Matters
Chai is complex. Unlike plain tea, it contains whole spices, aromatics, botanicals, and sometimes fruits or florals.
Each ingredient releases flavour at a different rate, and the wrong brewing method can mute or overpower those notes.

When brewed correctly, chai becomes:
-
Aromatic with layered spices
-
Smooth without bitterness
-
Balanced between tea strength and spice warmth
-
Deeply flavourful without being heavy
Your cup becomes a reflection of the blend’s full complexity just as we intended.
How to Properly Brew The Chai Thesis Chai
Because our blends vary, from bold and spiced to floral and delicate, this method is crafted to suit all our chai varieties while giving you the flexibility to adjust to your preference.
Stovetop Method (Traditional & Best for Full Flavour)
This is the method we recommend for all our chai blends.

You’ll Need
-
1 cup water (250 ml)
-
1 cup milk of your choice (250 ml)
-
1-2 teaspoons of your chosen Chai Thesis blend
-
Sweetener (optional): jaggery, honey, sugar, or alternatives
Step-by-Step
-
Simmer the spices
Add water to a saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer. Add your chai blend.
Let the spices warm and open for 2–3 minutes. -
Add milk
Pour in your milk and stir gently. Keep the heat low to medium.
Allow it to simmer, not boil, for another 3–5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your chai. -
Sweeten to taste
Add your chosen sweetener and stir until dissolved. -
Strain and serve
Pour into your favourite mug, breathe in the aroma, and enjoy.
Tip: For a stronger chai, simmer a little longer. For a milder cup, shorten the steeping time.
Brewing Tips for the Perfect Cup
-
Use fresh water - never reboiled water
-
Avoid high heat when milk is added (prevents curdling and bitterness)
-
Stir occasionally to encourage full extraction
-
Use whole milk or oat milk for the creamiest texture
-
Try jaggery for earthy sweetness that complements spices beautifully
Quick Brew Method (For Busy Mornings)
Perfect when you want chai now but still crave depth.
-
Kettle boil 1 cup of water.
-
Add 1-2 tsp chai and let it steep for 2-3 minutes.
-
Add milk.
-
Let it sit for 1 minute before straining. Still flavourful, with a quick turnaround.
